The Dukan Diet

Dr. Pierre Dukan developed this diet reminiscent of the famous Atkins diet, based on consumption of protein and avoiding carbohydrates.

Although Dr. Dukan has been promoting his diet for over 30 years, its popularity has grown since 2000. His book The Dukan Diet: 2 Steps to Lose the Weight, 2 Steps to Keep It Off Forever (Now 50% off)  is a permanent best seller in France with over 3 million copies sold.

The basic principle: Limit fat intake and stay with lean meats (chicken without skin, and wings) and Low-calorie dairy products. Make sure to drink at least 1.5 liter of water every day and perform aerobic exercise for 20 minutes.

What to eat: the first ten days only proteins (from a short list) without limitation, expected significant weight loss (at least 3 kg). The next five days, add unlimited vegetables (excluding potatoes, sweet potatoes, corn and avocado), and lose 1-2 kg. In the third phase the diet becomes a way of life: Return to menu all types of food, but on Thursdays, once a week, eat only proteins (and thus maintain a stable weight over time).
